At the NCBA National Beef Quality Assurance Conference, last June, Purdue University presented a preview of their online BQA certification program, IQ+BEEF, The Intelligent Choice. Since then we have seen a large amount of interest in the program. Many of the attendees to the conference have viewed the program and their responses have been very positive. The program now is complete and available to other state BQA organizations. The IQ+BEEF program is flexible and can be tailored to fit your state BQA program. By selecting the modules of interest to your state you can customize your own online educational piece for your state. Included in the online BQA support package is a web page that is specific to your state program. This can be used to list coordinator contacts, vaccination protocols, upcoming sales, trainings and meetings as well as any other BQA information that concerns you state. The IQ+BEEF program is very comprehensive, dealing with production areas as diverse as quality and yield grading to animal care and well being. Great care has been taken to insure that the site is as up to date and accurate as possible. We are in the process of developing a recertification site, which will be online for use by our partners by January, 2003 as part of the IQ BEEF program. The program allows producers of state partner supporters to complete the course at the introductory price of $10 per producer. State partner support programs receive a progress report of their state's producers along with the specific state program page. Contact us on how to be part of this educational program.
