Understanding Cattle Summary

To move an animal forward in the chute or alley, stand behind the point of the shoulder.
Avoid loud noises and sudden movements.
To back an animal, move ahead of the shoulder.
When an animal rears up in the chute, back off.
Don't wrestle, beat or shout at an animal.
Avoid use of sticks, canes and hot shots. These can cause serious bruising as well as create a negative experience to make you and the cattle want to avoid work day.
If you have a bad experience, think it through and try to determine how you could have prevented it using these principles.
